Wagons Ho!

Most of you probably aren’t old enough to remember the television series “Wagon Train” so you also wouldn’t remember how Major Seth Adams would shout “Wagons Ho!” to get the wagon train moving. I’m not actually going in a wagon train, but it will be an interesting caravan. I’ll be driving that 26-foot moving van, hauling a trailer, and my friend will be driving a pickup, hauling a trailer with her car and our bicycles on it. The Ladies of Stumptown Savoury will be riding in the back of the pickup because, well, they can get pretty aromatic in a confined space. Each of us will have rabbit passengers as well–seven rabbits total, at least at the beginning of the trip. Three of the girls may be preggers (such excellent timing!) and if they are, kindling will happen just about the time we arrive to Tennessee.

    I was shocked to learn that you left Portland the last time I was at the cooking demonstration last week. You made that appt. for me over the phone and never mentioned you were leaving. I’m sorry I didn’t have the opportunity to say good-bye and thank you for all you taught us. You will be missed a lot! Those cooking demonstrations just won’t be the same without you.

    I read your blog entry and your goals are admirable. Wish I could do that myself. I hope you achieve them. It would be such a triumph!

    And yes, I am old enough to remember “Wagon Train”, one of my favorite shows as a kid.

    My husband and I were just in your new area this past June. We were in Asheville for our anniversary after seeing my sister in W.V. We drove right through Johnson City on our way to Asheville. We plan to go back again and I’d love to see you again once to get your house built and are settled. I know it will take some time and I hope you succeed. I’d love hearing from you when you have the time to write.
